At Control 2010, NEXTSENSE Mess- und Prüfsysteme GmbHhttp://www.nextsense.at, will present the latest version of its high-tech Calipri measurement device as a universal inspection device for geometry measurement tasks. For the first time, any profile can be measured using a handheld measurement device. With Calipri, the company underpins its innovative capacity and consolidates its leading position in the field of mobile optical measurement devices.

What makes the new method special is that a closed 360° profile line can now be measured with one scan. The individual sub-profiles of a camera image are combined instantly just like in a puzzle and are immediately visible to the user on the screen. As with the other Calipri products, the basis for the handheld device is a patented method which automatically corrects the ever-present abbe errors during the freehand measurement operation.

NEXTSENSE adapts the software to fit the customer's measurement tasks by offering an additional "customizing package" as a service for the actual measurement device. This service includes the creation of any number of custom rules for the calculation of measured variables on the profiles recorded. It is therefore possible to display not just the entire profile (in the form of x/y profile coordinates), but also individual measured variables, such as length, area, radius or angle.

With the Calipri Universal, NEXTSENSE is opening up an unimaginable number of applications, in which it is primarily important to perform quick and precise on-site measurements. NEXTSENSE has already successfully introduced two products – Calipri Wheel, for measuring wheelset in the rail industry, and Calipri Gap, for measuring gap and flush in the automotive sector – onto the market in the quality assurance area.

It is in quality assurance that NEXTSENSE also sees the highest potential for Calipri Universal. This includes measurement tasks in aerospace engineering, as well as in the construction and timber industries. The measurement of elastic profiles (rubber sipes, seals, rubber tires, etc.) is an interesting special case, where mechanical contact measuring is not an option.

In 2007, its first year of existence, the company won the prestigious Fast Forward Award from the Styrian Business Promotion Agency.
