At Control 2008, NEXTSENSE Mess- und Prüfsysteme GmbH introduces the new Calipri high-tech measurement device for the first time – an optoelectronic handheld measurement device for quick, non-contact geometry measurements on almost any body profile. Calipri can replace a variety of measuring equipment, such as sliding gages, protractors, feeler gages or templates. The system uses the laser light section method. A patented photogrammetric method automatically compensates any abbe errors resulting from the slanted positioning of the measurement device. This allows for accurate freehand measurement operations.

The potential applications range from simple measurement tasks, such as measuring diameters, groove depth, flush, radii, angles, etc., to template measurements for comparing profiles and even flatness measurements of long products using a reference ruler. A smart feature enables several partial measurements next to each other to be compiled into one overall measurement. This makes it possible to fully measure even highly complex profile shapes, such as the diameter of railway vehicle wheels or the gap and flush of car bodies.
