Non-contact profile measurement in confined spaces
Non-contact profile measurement in confined spaces
At InnoTrans 2012, NEXTSENSE Mess- und Prüfsysteme GmbH, manufacturer of non-contact profile measurement devices for the rail and automotive sector, will introduce its convenient measurement device for confined spaces for the first time. This is a small sensor for the Calipri measurement device, which has proven successful in practice for some time now. With the new, smaller Calipri sensor, it will for the first time be possible to conveniently carry out non-contact measurements of wheel profile wear on low-level vehicles. During the measurement operation, the user guides the sensor over the wheel profile by hand. The intelligent image-processing system continuously captures subsegments of the measurement object and joins them together. An innovation registered for patent approval means it is no longer necessary to strictly observe the distance and angle of the sensor. Because of this correction of abbe errors and the non-contact mode of operation, Calipri delivers markedly more reliable and reproducible measurements than conventional measurement methods.
